Ques 1. What was the most difficult assessment item you completed in this term ?

    Ans. The most difficult assessment this term was the 1st assessment as it required us to change the way we used to work previously in our previous organisation. It was the first time was making an assignment by the method of research and i was thinking of what can be done and if it can be done how to begin the assignment.

In most the aasignment i was not sure what is required to do to start an assignment because the most difficult step is the first step rest all steps keep on falling in place and then you tend to master the art of doing such a work quickly and with ease.

Ques 2. What was difficult about it and how would you suggest it could be improved?

Ans. If i was to tell the truth about what was the most difficult part in the assignment then i would say that it was the use of the references and to find the references on the library website as i had never searched for educational articles on a website and too the university website, nor i have ever made any type of assignment.

I would suggest that all the students should be given a dumy assignment to be made and then every one should make that assignment with the help of the tutor because a tutor is the best person to tell you how to make an assigmnet, what this will do is when students make a assignment along with the tutor they ted to learn more as they get a hang of things, rather than staright away starting an assignment.

Ques 3. Name three (3) things you learnt this term in COIS20025.

Ans. The three things i learnt in this term for COIS 20025 are:-

1) Report making

2) Referencing

3) ERD’s

Ques 4. How will you be able to use this knowledge/these skills in your future career?

Ans. The knowledge and skills that i have picked uo during this course would help me in the longer run when i will be resarching for articles to make reports for my organisation or while i am searching for a possible innovaions for the betterments of the innovations.

They will also help me while i have to define a complex project system to an organisation when i have to expalain my project to the industry, making ERD’s will help any time i have to represent any system or project graphilcaly using a data flow diagram.

Referncing would help me to do the closing of my reports, assignments and other major projects properly and legally in which i have used the help of other sources apart from what i have used on my own and articles of answers from other sourses say online sourses or newspapers or websites every thing that is is not mine i ahve to mention it properly and referencing would help me any time everywhere.

Week 10

Ques. On page 478 the textbook identifies and discusses four types of maintenance tasks. Post an entry to your blog that gives one example of each type of maintenance task that might be needed once the Capricornia Car Pool System (the system you are designing in assignments 1 and 2) is in operation?

Ans.

The typical patterns for each of the four classifications of maintenance activities over a system’s life span are:

Corrective maintenance- It diagnoses and corrects errors in an operational system. In addition to the correction of the errors in the original operating system, corrective maintenance is needed t resolve issues created by previous changes of maintenance. The best approach of maintenance is to investigate, analysis, design and testing before implementing any solution. One can respond to the errors in various ways, depending on the nature and severity of the problem.    

Adaptive maintenance- It adds new feature, capabilities or enhancements to an operational system and makes the system easy to use. The requirement for the adaptive maintenance arises from changes in business environment like new services or products, support for a new web-based operation but this system requires more IT department resources than minor corrective maintenance. Adaptive maintenance can be more complicated than the new system development because the enhancements have to work within the constraints of an existing system.

Perfective maintenance- It involves in changing the operational system to make it more efficient, reliable, or maintainable. Requests for the corrective and adaptive maintenance usually come from the users, while the IT department initiates perfective maintenance. During the system operational changes such as changes in the user activity or data patterns can cause inefficiency and then perfective maintenance might be needed to restore performance. In many of the organizations perfective maintenance is not performed frequently as they have limited resources so they prefer adaptive or corrective maintenance.

Preventive maintenance- It requires analysis of areas where problems or troubles are likely to occur so that they can avoid problems before they occur. Like perfective maintenance, the IT department initiates preventive maintenance. This maintenance results in the user satisfaction, decreased downtime and reduced TCO.

Ques. On page 447 the textbook discusses four possible approaches to changing from one information system to another. Post an entry to your blog the explains the implications of using each of these approaches might be used at CQU to change from the existing manual Capricornia Car Pool System (CCPS) to the new system you have been designing in assignments 1 and 2. Your post should include discussion of the benefits and problems associated with each approach 

Ans  Direct Cut Over:-This change system is the change of current old system to new system swiftly just by stopping the Current system and starting the new system straight away. in the Capricornia Car pool system if we implement the new system just by stopping current legacy system it wont be a feasible option as the cars are always taken by some current staff who actually got it booked through the old system it would be hard updated those details on the new system.

Parallel Operation:- This Change option refers that the old and new information system will operate fully at the same time for a period of time to check the complexities of new system without hampering the old system which is also fully functional. But This kind of change require more manpower to manage. If we follow the same approach in the current Capricornia car pool system we will need more staff member this will increase the management cost for the University. Doesn’t seem to be a feasible option.

Pilot Operation:- This kind of change method involve implementing current system at selected location and then get it tested by the user in that location to find drawbacks and benefits and then implement on all the other locations. This Approach Could be Considered a Ideal option for the implementation for the new Carpool system in Central Queensland University. The Newly designed system could be first implemented in one of the campuses of CQU to be tested and then finally implemented on all the other campuses.

Phased Operation :- This Changeover method allows to implement the new system in stages , or modules. Considering the case of Current Carpool system it wont be a feasible option to implement the new system in module because the old system is totally manual and the new system is total computerized at the same time Capricornia Car pool system is not a complex system with large number of modules but there are fixed modules so it would basically led to more complexities if implemented in phased approach as would increase management cost require more staff to manage two different modules.

Ques 1.What is the name of innovation?

    Ans  The innovation that can be used is that there should be contests that should take place in the university.Also there should be a program to improve the interpersonal skills as well as learning skills like Group discussions,interviews and presentations on a particular top I found the web discussion forms and online quiz, pod cast as the Innovation. 

Ques 2. Describe the innovation and how it would work and the service it would provide to students and/or staff.?

 Ans The innovation will  really bring revolution to the students life and there learning abilities.This innovation will  improve the communication skills as well as the confidence level of the students will increase.When any thing will be given to the students to present in the seminar they will start preaparing it and it will improve there learning skills.Also when the teacher will be giving a lecture that time also they will focus on the lecture.Apart from all this group discussions will enhance there knowledge and will improve there ability to work in  a team.

Ques 3.  How did you identify this innovation?    

 Ans The  above innovation is identified by  interviewing the students.In the interview there were many suggestions from the different students.But  most of the students mentioned about above innovation.They said that it will be better for them because in the organization to work after there studies they will need the skills of working in a team and if those skills will be provided to them now it will be really beneficial for them.Apart from the interviews there were some surveys also conducted from where i come to know about this innovation.

Ques1:  What services/additions would students find interesting and useful on the course website?

 Ans1:  I think that I found that the Discussion Forum is very interesting because it is helpful for the students to discuss the problems and student can easily convey their messages to other students and lecturers that what the problems we face in assignments and in our course profile so through this student can also increase his knowledge with the help of discussion forum.

Ques2: What learning and/or teaching strategies might improve the student learning in this course?

Ans2: In this course lot of things that is helpful for students to improve in learning like Questionnaires, Interviews, Quizes test and assignments that is helpful for the students.

 Questionnaires is helpful  for the students by giving the Questions because with the help of questions student can show our knowledge and also students get the time to think which is helpful  for the students on the other hand Interviews where the students can sit in front of  lecturer/tutor  this makes the confidence how they taught in profession world.

Ques 1. What is the Capricornia car pool system?

Ans. Capricornia car pool system is car parking system where the system involves a lot of manual labour for the staff and the facilities management divisions they maintain the records in a diary and the writing pad,for the reservation of cars on the basis of price. they using two different car models that is sedans and station wagons. cars can be borrowed minimum of one hour and maximum of two hours in a weeks at a time, the price for the car is depend on the model and the rental period chosen by the customers, also fitted options are also available like roof-rack or trailer these are charged extra.  

 Ques 2.  What are the current problems with the Capricornia car pool system?

Ans. As every compony have advantages and disadvantages same a capricornia car pool system have they have some problems that are:

1. the clerk is not always aware of the location of all the cars pool vehicles 

2. Process very slow 

3 Due to the manually system some time it loose the important information.

4.. car pool system is manually so it is difficult to maintain all the record at the same time 

Ques 3.  What information do you need to find out about the Capricornia car pool system to develop a detailed understanding of the current system?

Ans. The information must be same in the car pool system. it must be easy to understand for the all the staff and if there is any problem then staff member can understand the problem. each part have its different entities so its easy to understand how the system works and system will be updated time to time and also stop the replicables of the customers.
